Nothing last Forever or Does it?

Some people start couponing and they think okay I am going to buy 10 of this or 30 of that and I am going to be saving so much money.

Well the reality is you need to know a few things about food life and expiration. You also need to figure out where the best place to store the items would be.

First off there are some things that have a shelf life of forever.
That is if it is stored properly.

Here is a list of some of those items and tips on how to store them:

HONEY
Pure Honey if stored in a cool area with the lid kept tightly closed will be as delicious 30 years from now as it would be today. It may change color or crystallize but it is said to still be safe.

RICE
Mostly all rices with the exception or brown rice will have an indefinite shelf life if kept cool in a dry area. The container must be sealed airtight. It can also be stored in the freezer or fridge.

If you do have the rice that was bought in a box I would change it out to a tight sealed container or resealable zip lock. Brown Rice kept in a pantry will only last 3 to 6 months!

                                 SUGAR
Mostly all sugars never spoil. The problem that you may face over time is that it may become rock solid. Again if placed in an airtight container or resealable plastic ziplock in a cool dry area you will have no problems storing this for decades!

SALT
Yeap from your average table salt to sea salt store in cool dry area and your salt can last you years upon years.

Plus salt has many other uses besides just adding some flavor to your food.

Distilled White Vingar
Not only does this have a million good uses but it must be stored in a cool dark area with the cap always sealed tightly.

I love using this to cook steak and for cleaning my tiles!

Maple Syrup
Yeap this is not only great on waffles and in your favorite dishes but it is said to last forever (though that will never hold true in my house).
You must refrigerate after opening of course but for long term storage freeze in air tight containers.
